What is chloroprene rubber?

Chloroprene rubber (CR) is a synthetic elastomer.

which has good chemical resistance, as well as good resistance to ozone and ageing. CR is also self-extinguishing, i.e. it does not burn in its own flame.

As a foamed variant, chloroprene rubber is known under the brand name Neoprene® and is used as a material for diving and surfing suits, as it forms a pressure-resistant and insulating foam.

The trade name is a registered trademark of the manufacturer.
