Shore hardness
What is Shore hardness?
Shore hardness is a defined measurement that indicates the relative resistance of the surface to indentation by a defined body with a given load. The test is standardized in DIN ISO 7619.
The most common Shore hardness for standard rubber articles is soft (approx. 45 °ShA), medium (approx. 55 °ShA) and hard (approx. 70 °ShA). Almost all articles can be produced in the range between 30 °ShA and 90 °ShA.
The Shore hardness test for rubber/rubber-metal articles is only used to identify the rubber version; the decisive factor for vibration dampers is always the spring characteristic curve.
